In Malawi’s commercial city, Blantyre anticipation is building among music lovers as afro-pop hotshot Driemo, real name Shaffie Phiri, gears up for the much-awaited Mzaliwa album launch.
This Saturday, August 12, Comesa Hall in Blantyre is the place to be as the youthful artist promises memorable music performances from him and the rest of supporting artists lined up for the day.
Eli Njuchi, hot from his Yabaya hit featuring Zambian maestro Yo Maps, is one of many musicians that will set the stage ablaze on the material day.
Skeffa Chimoto, Kell Ka, Piksy, Hyphen, Lesle Saint and Zeze Kingston of Alamwanu fame will spice up the day at the magnificent Comesa Hall.
Driemo has been out and about in Blantyre selling tickets to music fans ahead of the show.
By Wednesday, he had sold out all VIP tickets with a few standard tickets remaining.
This alone was a clear sign that the launch will present fireworks.
Driemo’s popularity in Malawi has soared over the years, establishing him as one of the leading artists in the country’s growing music industry.
His unique afro-pop style, combined with heartfelt lyrics, has resonated with music lovers across the nation and beyond, earning him a dedicated fan base across the world.
The 22-song Mzaliwa album features an impressive collection of tracks that displays Driemo’s versatility and talent.
It features 11 artists: eight from Zambia; three from Malawi.
Yo Maps lead the Zambian musicians in the feature list with the POPO remix whose original released a month ago has hit a million views on YouTube.

Chile One Mr Zambia, T Sean, Wezi F Jay and Dzimo are the other artists featured in the album whose buildup to the launch has seen managers of the prestigious Amaryllis Hotel sponsoring K2 million.
His manager, Van Ngongo, told Zodiak Online that all artists lined up for the day have confirmed their availability.
He said all preparations have been completed and what remains are just minor issues.
