South African legendary songstress Rebecca Malope has confirmed that she will perform in the country on September 2 during the Blessings Concert.
The concert has been organised by Jacobs Events led by gospel musician Wendy Harawa.
In a video clip shared on her official Facebook page, Malope said she will join Harawa during the Blessings Concert.
She said: “Please go get your ticket because I am ready with my band. My full band will come there and bless you with music and your life will never be the same.”
In a separate interview, Harawa said she is looking forward to the concert, saying Malawi gospel music will benefit a lot from the visiting international artists, which include Malope, Abel Chungu from Zambia and Colifixe from Uganda.
“Having these artists in one place is a blessing. We are breaking boundaries and we are taking gospel music to the world,” she said.
Harawa said the impact of the concert on the local scene will be enormous as local artists will learn a thing or two from the international artists.
“This will encourage local artists to do more to achieve more,” she said.
Harawa said the concert comes at a time when Malawians need something positive after devastating times such as Cyclone Freddy.
On his part, The Great Angels Choir music director Ephraim Zonda said they have prepared well for the concert as they look at it as an international show.
“Many artists are coming including Dr Rabecca Malope who is big in Africa and globally. Sharing a stage with her at a concert is grace on its own. We will deliver the gospel in an exciting manner,” he said.
Other local artists to perform at the event include Kondwani Chirwa and Lulu.
